At the 9th Annual Academic Meeting of the Japan Society for One Health Science, held at Teikyo University's Itabashi Campus on Saturday, September 13, 2025, Xie Xiaotan (4th year, Faculty of Medical Technology) won the Best Presentation Award, and Takakusagi Kanon (4th year, Faculty of Medical Technology) and Yamamoto Aino (4th year, Faculty of Medical Technology) won the Research Encouragement Award.
The purpose of this conference is to contribute to the health of humans, animals, and the environment through cooperation between experts from a wide range of fields, including medicine, pharmacy, public health, veterinary medicine, agriculture, science, and engineering. This year's conference was held under the theme of "Health and welfare for all people and animals."
Mr. Xie presented a study titled "Study on the role of fibroblasts in the activation of lung adenocarcinoma," in which he used immunohistochemical studies to reveal that fibroblasts in the cancer microenvironment are involved in the increased malignancy of cancer.
The research presented by Takakusaki and Yamamoto was a collaborative project involving three people, including Yamato (4th year, Faculty of Medical Technology), and involved the cytological examination of lung cancer as part of their graduation research.
The three researchers are conducting joint research in the field of "cytological research." Takakusagi reported on the possibility of predicting whether tumor cells are lung adenocarcinoma using characteristic findings in cytology specimens, titled "A new cytological approach for predicting lung adenocarcinoma." Yamamoto reported on the relationship between the appearance of fibroblasts in each histological type of lung cancer and clinicopathological features, titled "The relationship between fibroblasts in respiratory cytology specimens and the progression of malignant tumors."
The content of these presentations was highly praised, leading to their award. We look forward to seeing even greater success from these four in the future.
