On Saturday, October 11, 2025, Teikyo University's Hachioji Campus hosted the Thinking Marathon Q, a program designed to improve both intellectual and physical abilities. Marathon Q is a regular event held as part of General Education offered at the university's Hachioji Campus, "Improving Questioning Skills" and "Improving Communication Skills." Teams of students, businesspeople, and local residents read the Yomiuri Shimbun morning edition from the perspective of someone other than themselves, create questions, and search for answers in this intellectual marathon.
Approximately 50 students enrolled in the class and businesspeople (alumni) participated in this Marathon Q, splitting into 10 teams to create questions. They considered the article in the morning paper, "Israel Declares Ceasefire in Effect," by imagining themselves as the families of Palestinian and Israeli hostages. Each team presented questions about the safety of their families and the relationship between the two countries after the ceasefire, leading to an active Q&A session.
At the closing ceremony of the event, the graduates delivered messages to the current students, and the expressions on the students' faces seemed serious as they received their kind yet stern words.
The instructors in charge, Matsumoto Mina, Visiting Professor Teikyo University Center for General Education and Shimotori Shunta, Assistant Professor at the same center and Okinaga Research Institute of Teikyo University, commented that they would like to continue providing a place that will encourage students to continue thinking through classes on "improving questioning skills" and "improving communication skills."
