Faculty of Economics' Song Seminar and Tochigi Prefectural Oyama High School held a high school-university collaboration programUtsunomiya Campus

On Thursday, December 4, 2025, a high school-university collaborative program was held at Teikyo University Utsunomiya Campus by the University's Faculty of Economics Department of Regional Economics Associate Professor Song Yu's seminar and Oyama High School in Tochigi Prefecture. This program has been implemented since FY2021 at the request of Oyama High School, and this year marks the fifth time the program has been held, with activities focusing on a specific theme, taking advantage of the expertise in fiscal studies.
This year, under the theme of "consumption tax," the program included self-introductions through paired interviews, presentations from the Song Seminar, a consumption tax quiz, and a general discussion. Participating students commented that they "learned that in college it is important to come up with your own ideas, even if they are wrong," and "were able to learn new ideas to add to the knowledge they have been researching," deepening their understanding of consumption tax and realizing the difference between college and high school.
This was a meaningful cooperative program that enabled our students and faculty to rethink about consumption tax. Josai will continue to promote educational partnerships with local schools to contribute to the local community and develop educational activities.
